| homophone | (n) a word that is pronounced like another word but is different in meaning, origin, or spelling. |
| phonetic | (adj) representing each speech sound with a single symbol; using a system of written symbols that represent speech sounds in a way that is very close to how they actually sound. |
| microphone | (n) a divide into which people speak or sing in order to record their voices or to make them sound louder |
| photograph | (n) an instrument for reproducing sounds by means of the vibration of a stylus or needle following a spiral groove on a revolving disc or cylinder |
