feature a prominent or conspicuous part or characteristic:

gene the basic physical unit of heredity
gene version "Allele" is the word that we use to describe the alternative form or versions of a gene
heterozygous relating to or being a heterozygote, an organism that possesses a pair of differing alleles, one dominant and one recessive, of a particular gene.
homozygous having identical pairs of genes for any given pair of hereditary characteristics.
inherit to receive (a genetic character or trait) by the transmission of hereditary factors.
mutation Also called break. a sudden departure from the parent type in one or more heritable characteristics, caused by a change in a gene or a chromosome.
protein molecule a large, complex organic molecule made of long chains of amino acids linked by peptide bonds
sexual reproduction reproduction involving the union of gametes.
structure the manner in which atoms in a molecule are joined to each other,
trait a distinguishing characteristic or quality, especially of one's personal nature
variation a difference or deviation in structure or character from others of the same species or group.
