EIS Eclipses & Tides

QuestionAnswer
Eclipse when the position of an object in space blocks how we see another object.
Solar Eclipse the blocking of sunlight to Earth that occurs when the moon is directly between the sun and Earth.
Lunar Eclipse the blocking of sunlight to the moon that occurs when Earth is directly between the sun and the moon.
Neap Tide a tide during a 1st quarter moon or a 3rd quarter moon, when there is the least difference between high and low tides.
Spring Tide a tide during a new moon or a full moon, when there is the greatest difference between high and low tides.
Umbra innermost and darkest part of a shadow
Penumbra less dark partially shaded outer region of a shadow
