Midterm Review

TermDefinition
input A device that is used to give/put information into the computer
Output A device that is used to get/take away information from the computer.
Motherboard It contains/holds all the components needed to make a computer operate.
CPU (Central Processing Unit) "Brains of the computer", Controls the actions of the computer.
ROM (Read Only Memory) It gives Instructions/Directions on how to start up. (Non-Volatile)
RAM (Random Access Memory) It temporarily holds and stores data, but when turned off data automatically is deleted. (Volatile)
Cooling Fan Gets cool air from outside into the case.
Hard Drive Permanently Stores Data
Heat Sink A metal piece on top of the CPU to take away heat.
Ports Used to attach External Peripherals to the computer
