Earth in Space

QuestionAnswer
Axis An imaginary line that passes through a planet's center and its north and south poles, about which the planet rotates.
Revolution The movement of an object around another object.
Rotation The spinning motion of a planet on its axis.
Solstice Either of the two days of the year on which the sun reaches its greatest distance north or south of the equator.
Orbit The path of an object as it revolves around another object in space.
Equinox Either of the two days of the year on which neither hemisphere is tilted toward or away from the sun.
Solar System The system consisting of the sun and the planets and other objects that revolve around it.
Pattern Something that happens over and over.
Change in Perspective A change in the scale or angle at which we are viewing some parts or all of the system.
Solar Related to the sun.
Polaris The North Star
Elevation The angle of an object above the horizon.
Celestial Body a natural object in space, such as the sun, moon, a planet, or a star.
