Light

| Light Ray | A straight beam of light as it travels out from its source |
| Medium | A solid, liquid or gas in which light can travel through |
| Transmission | The passage of light through an object or medium |
| Transparent | Material that allows NEARLY ALL light to pass through |
| Translucent | Material that only allows SOME light to pass through |
| Opaque | Material that allows NO light to pass through |
| Shadow | A rough or dark image cast due to light or illumination being blocked by the object. |
| Reflection | The bouncing back of light off a surface |
| Mirror | A small, shiny, flat surface that reflects light showing us a mirror image |
| Refraction | The bending of light as it enters a new medium (solid, liquid, or gas). The image can appear distorted, bent, or in a new location. |
| Absorption | To take in. When any energy is absorbed it is transformed into heat. |
| Color | A property of an object that reflects light of a certain wavelength |
| Prism | A medium that changes, refracts, or colors whatever is viewed through it |
