TermDefinition
Atom The tiny pieces that all matter - all of the stuff in the world is made of.
Molecule A group of atoms joined together in a particular way.
Element A basic substance that is made of only one kind of atom and cannot be broken down any further.
Property Something that can be observed about a substance such as Its color, smell, or boiling point.
Periodic Something that happens again and again at regular times.
Horizontal Straight and level.
Vertical Straight, up or down
Substance Something that is made of all the same atoms or groups of atoms.
Extended Structure The same molecule building itself repeatedly.
Subscript The little number written below and behind the letters.
Coefficient The big number written in front of a formula.
Rearrange To change the order or position of something
Reactant The starting substance that is part of a chemical reaction.
Product The ending substance that is made during a chemical reaction.
Chemical Reaction A process in which atoms rearrange to form a new substance.
