Variables

(EJ's) Key Terms

TermDefinition
Independent variable The thing you/scientist changes. "The Cause" "What I Change!"
Control Variable The things that stay the same in the experiment
Dependent variable What you are trying to measure. The data collected. "The Effect" "What I Observe"
Hypothesis An educated guess. A possible explanation that is tested with an experiment.
Data Information that is gained through observations and measurements.
Variable Something in an experiment that can changed
Quantitative Observation Observations made using measurements
Qualitative Observation Observations made using your five senses
