Celestial Objects Objects, such as planets, moons, and stars, that are located in space
Distance A measure of how far apart two objects are
Elliptical-Shaped Galaxy A galaxy with a long oval shape, a bright center, no apparent internal structure or spiral arms, and very little dust or gas
Galactic Center Rotation center of a galaxy
Galaxy A large grouping of stars in space
Irregular-Shaped Galaxy A galaxy with very little symmetry that does not fit into any category
Light-Year A unit of length equal to the distance that light travels through space in one year
Milky Way Galaxy The galaxy in which Earth and the Sun are located
What shape Galaxy do we live in? Spiral
Planet A large celestial body that revolves around a star in a solar system
Solar System A star and the group of planets and other celestial bodies that are held by its gravitational attraction and revolve around it
Spiral Arms Streaming arcs of millions of stars swirling around the center of a spiral-shaped galaxy
Spiral-Shaped Galaxy A galaxy with a bulge in the center and very distinct long arms winding around the center
Star A celestial body consisting of a mass of gas held together by its own gravity in which the energy is generated by nuclear reactions in its interior
Universe All of space and the matter space contains
Group the celestial bodies from largest to smallest Universe, galaxy, solar system, star, planet
