Gymnosperm Non-Flowering Plant
Angiosperm Flowering Plant
Perfect Flower A flower with both male & female reproductive parts
Imperfect Flower A flower with either a male portion or female portion but not both
Stem Supports the plant & Transports water
Roots Anchors the plant & Takes in nutrients from soil
Leaves Captures sunlight to make food through photosynthesis
Ovary Ripens into a fruit
Seed The fertilized egg (ovule) from a plant
Flower The colorful part of the plant used to reproduce.
Petals Attracts pollinators through its color and smell
Sepals Found at the bottom of the flower; it helps protect the growing bud
Receptacle Holds major organs; the swollen part of the stem
Stamen The male part of the flower; Contains the anther & filament
Pollen Male Sex Cells (found in the anther)
Ovules Female Sex Cells (found in the ovary)
Pistil The female part of the flower; Contains the stigma, style, and ovary
Filament Supports the anther; A stalk like structure
Anther Structure on top of the filament where pollen is produced
Stigma Sticky structure on top of the style that receives pollen
Style Connects the stigma and the ovary
Ovary Holds the ovules and develops into fruit
