| Term | Definition |

| Minerals | Solid, non-living material that forms in nature. They are made up of ONE thing. |
| Streak | The powder color a mineral leaves behind. |
| Limestone | A sedimentary rock found in Florida. |
| Rocks | Made up of 2 or more minerals |
| Igneous Rocks | When magma cools and hardens. |
| Sedimentary Rocks | Cemented layers |
| Metamorphic Rocks | Heat and pressure |
| Weathering | Breaking - The cracking, breaking, or grinding of rock. |
| Causes of Weathering | Water, Wind, Temperature Change, Plants, or Ice |
| Erosion | Taking - The moving of rocks, soil, or sand from one place to another |
| Causes of Erosion | Water, Wind, Ice, or Gravity |
| Renewable Resource | Can be used without running out. They are constantly replaced. |
| Nonrenewable Resource | Resources that we are using up more quickly than they can be replaced. |
| Natural Resources | Something found in nature that is valuable to humans. Limit using. They cannot be replaced quickly. |
| Examples of Renewable Resources | Wind, Solar, Wood, Water, and Cotton |
| Examples of Nonrenewable Resources | Coal, Oil, Gas, Phosphate, Limestone, and Silicon |
| Properties of Minerals | Color, Luster, Streak, Hardness, Cleavage |
