| ACE Inhibitors | Lisinopril, benazepril, enalapril/ decreases chemicals that tighten blood vessels allowing blood to flow efficiently |
| Loop Diuretic | Furosemide/ Increases the amount of urine the body makes, reducing swelling, edema, and symptoms of fluid retention. Will also help in lowering blood pressure. Side effect of low sodium and low potassium levels. |
| Osmotic Diuretic | Mannitol, Glycerin, Isosorbide/ Nitrate that dilates blood vessels which in turn makes it easier for blood to flow through the body and eases stress on the hear. |
| ARBs | Valsartan, Olmesartan, Irbesartan/ works by blocking angiotensin II and promotes sodium reabsorption by the kidenys |
| Pyridium (phenazopyridinine) | urinary analgesic used for UTI symptoms educate patient that it turns urine orange |
| nitrofurantoin | Teach pts to drink 6-8 glasses of water, take drug with meals, no milk, nitrofurantoin turns urine brown |

| nitrofurantoin | Antibiotic used to treat urinary tract infection. Not to be used in patients who are pregnant or who have severe kidney disease. |
| sulfonamide | First developed in 1906, are bacteriostatic and interfere with the synthesis of folic acid in bacteria. Do not use if patient has allergy to sulfa. |
| Dilaudid | Opioid pain medication for moderate to sever pain. |
| Kayexalate | Binds itself to potassium in the digestive tract and prevents the body from absorbing too much potassium. |
