homeostasis The conditions in which an organism's internal environment is kept stable in spite of changes in the external environment.
vertebrate An animal with a backbone.
invertebrate An animal without a backbone.
adaptations An inherited behavior or physical characteristic that helps an organism survive and reproduce in its environment.
What are the 3 things that animals have in common? They can all grow, eat, and reproduce.
What are the 4 functions of animals? They must obtain oxygen and food, maintain homeostasis, move in some way, and reproduce.
How are animals classified and the 3 ways these relationships are determined? they all are related to other animals, they all develop, and they all have DNA.
