Advantage of observational design Reduce the risk of bias as participants are observed in a natural setting
Advantage of Experimental The design we control, experiment can be replicated
Advantage of qualitative Can get expert opinion if using the Delphi technique, a researchers starting point so helpful if little known about the topic
Disadvantage of observational Can not determine cause and effect due to lack of control from researchers
Disadvantage of experimental Bias's can be present, ethical concerns
Disadvantage of qualitative Can be quite subjective, even when the delphi technique is used, and unable to be verified in controlled setting
Mean is calculated by... add al the numbers together then divide by the number of numbers
Median is calculated by... arrange the data from smallest to largest whatever is the middle number is your median
Mode is calculated by... The number that appears the most
Low standard deviation means Shows the data is clustered closely around the mean making it more reliable.
High standard deviation means Shows the data is widely spread from the mean making it less reliable
Ethical concerns include Informed consent Voluntary participation Confidentiality Right to withdraw Debriefing
What is the IV and the DV The IV is what is changed in the experiment and the DV is what is measured in the experiment
