The Big Bang Theory The universe started as a tiny dot that exploded and became the universe. The universe is still expanding.
rock planets The first four, small planets in our solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars)
gas giants The last four, large planets in our solar system (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune)
Earth a planet with life
Jupiter the largest planet
Saturn the planet with the brightest rings
Mercury the smallest planet
Mars the planet that is the most like Earth
gravity the invisible force that pulls objects towards each other
sun the center of our solar system
rotate to spin
orbit the path an object takes around another object
revolve to move around a path
the Earth's rotation causes day and night; it takes 24 hours (1 day)
the Earth's revolution causes the seasons; it takes 1 year
