TermDefinition
cor Latin- “Heart”
courage (n)Derived from the idea of having a "brave heart." In its earliest forms, it meant to speak one's mind by telling all one's heart.
discord (n) lack of agreement between people, ideas, etc.; an unpleasant combination of musical notes.
cordial (adj)Originally meaning "from the heart"; today it describes someone who is warm, friendly, and sincere.
accord (v) To be of "one heart" with someone; an official agreement.
concord (n) a state in which people or things agree with each other and exist together in a peaceful way.
cred, cert Latin- “Believe, Sure, Trust”
credible (adj) Able to be believed; convincing; capable or persuading people that something will happen or be successful.
credo (n) A statement of the beliefs that guide someoneś actions.
credentials (n) qualifications, achievements, and personal qualities of a personś background, typically when used to indicate that they are suitable for something.
certain (adj) known for sure; established beyond doubt.
certified (v) to guarantee to be true or valid; meets an established standard; to recognize as having met special qualifications within a field.
coronary (adj) relating to the arteries that surround the heart
cardiac (adj) relating to the heart
cardiology (n) a branch of medicine that deals with diseases and abnormalities of the heart
record (v) To learn "by heart." In ancient times, to record something meant to commit it to memory (the heart) so it could be recalled later.
encourage (v) To "put heart into" someone
discourage (v) "take the heart out" of them
core (n) the central, innermost part of something (like the "heart" of an apple).
coronary (adj) While this specifically refers to the arteries surrounding the heart, it comes from corona (crown), but is used exclusively in medical contexts regarding the cor (heart).
