CADD-2 Lesson 2
Advanced Dimensioning & GDT
Question | Answer |
---|---|
DIMSCALE | Overall dimension scale factor |
TEDIT | Moves the dimension text of an associative dimension |
UPDATE | changes to the current dimension variables, text style, precision and units. |
OVERRIDE | Modifies one or more of the DIMVARS on a one time basis. |
DIMVARS | Abbreviation for Dimension Variables. |
Tolerance | Specifies the acceptable variation allowable for a given dimension. |
Basic Dimension | The target dimension that tolerances are added to to obtain limits |
Symmetrical Tolerance | Specifies a plus/minus where the upper & lower values are equal |
Deviation Tolerance | Specifies a plus/minus where the upper & lower values are different values |
Limits Tolerancing | Only the upper and lower limits of variation are shown, the basic (or target) dimension is not shown |
Associative Dimensions | Provides for automatic updates of dimensions when modifying an object. (Should always be on) |
Dimension Styles | A stored set of Dimension Variables |
Leader | Lines with arrows used to point out particular features in a drawing. |
Spline Leader | Similar to a regular leader, but may consist of spline curves instead of straight lines. |
Alternate Units (Dual Dimensioning) | A second set of distances inside of brackets commonly used to show Metric equivalents. |
Primary Units | Those that appear by default when placing dimensions on a drawing. |
GD&T | Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing |
Feature Control Frame | Used to display the geometric charecteristic symbols & their corresponding tolerances. |
MMC (Maximum Material Condition) | specifies that a feature is at it's maximum size or contains the maximum amount of material. |
NEWTEXT | Allows you to replace the dimension text of an existing dimension, however the dimension will no longer be associative. |
Chain Dimensions | Dimensions that continue from feature to feature. |
Baseline Dimensions | Features are measured from a base point or datum. |
Unidirectional System of Measurement | All dimension text is placed horizontal and read from the bottom of the sheet. |
Aligned System of Measurement | All text is parallel to the dimension line. |
Basic Dimension | A dimension to which allowances and tolerances are added to obtain limits. Shown with a rectangle around the text. |
