| Tropism | The response of a plant toward or away from a stimulus. |
| Hormone | A chemical that affects growth and development. The chemical product of an endocrine gland. |
| Photoperiodism | A plant’s response to seasonal changes in the length of night and day. |
| Critical night length | The number of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant will flower. |
| Dormancy | A period of time when an organism’s growth or activity stops. |
| What are the three stimuli that produce plant responses? | Light, gravity, and water |
| What is an example of positive and negative tropism? | Positive: growth towards a stimulus Negative: growth away from a stimulus |
