| Term | Definition |

| Tropism | The response of a plant toward or away from a stimulus |
| Hormone | A chemical that effects growth and development. The chemical product of an endocrine gland. |
| Photoperiodism | A plant's response to seasonal changes in the length of day and night. |
| Critical night length | The number of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant will flower. |
| Dormancy | A period of time when an organism's growth or activity stops. |
| Tell Me the three stimuli that produce plant responses | Plants move their leaves toward the sun. If the vase in which the plant is in falls to its side then the plant's stem will grow up. Some plants as they grow they coil around around any object they touch. |
| Give an example of positive and negative tropism | An example of positive tropism is putting a plant by the window it starts growing towards the light. An example of negative tropism is when the plant grows up. |
