| Tropism | A plants growth response toward or away from a stimulus |
| Hormone | A chemical produced by a plant that affects how the plant grows and develops |
| Photoperiodism | a plants response to seasonal changes in the length of day and night |
| Critical night length | The number of hours of darkness that determines whether or not a plant will flower |
| Dormancy | a period when an organisms growth or activity stops |
| The three stimuli that produce plant responses | Touch, gravity, light |
| An example of positive and negative tropism | a positive tropism is when the plant grows toward the stimulus. A negative tropism is when a plant grows away from a stimulus. |
| What triggers a plant to flower | The amount of darkness, a plant receives determines the time of flowering and many plants |
