| Sedimentary Rock | rock that forms when sediments are compacted and cemented together |
| Weathering | the process of breaking down rocks into smaller pieces |
| Coal | a hard black or brown substance that is found in Earth and burned as fuel |
| Decay | the process of rotting |
| Oil | a liquid found beneath Earth's surface used as fuel |
| Petroleum | a thick oil found by drilling beneath Earth's crust |
| Natural Gas | a mixture of gases found in Earth's crust |
