Phase The portion of the moon or a planet reflecting light as seen from earth
Waxing Phase more of Moons near side is lit each night
Waning Phase Less of the moons near side is lit each night
Umbra Central darker part of a shadow where light is totatly blocked
Penumbra the lighter part of a shadow where light is partially blocked
Solar Eclipse when the moons shadow appears on the surface
Lunar Eclipse Occurs when the moon moves into the Earths shadow
tide Daily rise and fall of sea level,rises and falls twice each day
