| Lymph | Clear liquid (tissue fluid) collected around the cells and returned to the bloodstream (subclavian vein) |
| Lymph vessels | Tubes that transport lymph |
| Lymph nodes | Swellings that contain many WBC. found at the armpit, neck and groin |
| Spleen | Organ to the left of the stomach. Destroys defective RBCs. Filters blood for bacteria and pathogens |
| Thymus | (Endocrine gland) located behind your sternum. T-cells mature here |
| Adenoids and tonsils | Located at the back of the nasal cavity and back of the mouth Kill pathogens during infection |

| Transport role - lacteal | Fat is broken down into glycerol and fatty acids by the enzyme lipase in the small intestine. Absorbed into the lacteals in the villi, which connects to the lymphatic system. |
| Transport role - returning | Tissue fluid and plasma proteins that have leaked from capillaries are returned to blood |
| Defence role - filter | Lymph nodes filter plasma |
| Defence role - production | Production of lymphocytes (B cells and T cells) |
| Defence role - infection fighting | Lymphocytes detect antigens and produce antibodies. |
