Earth science models and maps

QuestionAnswer
Model Anything used to represent something else
Field Region of space in which the same quantity can be measured everywhere
Isoline Line on a field map that connects places having the same field quanity value
Isotherm Line on a field map connecting places with same temperature
Topographic Map A special field map showing changes in elevation
Contour Lines Lines on a topographic map, connecting areas with similar elevation
Gradient Change in field value per unit distance (on a topographic map, field value is land elevation)
