Excretory System

What is the excretory system? The system responsible for removing wastes from the body
What is the main function of the excretory system? To filter blood and remove toxins and waste products from the body
What are the main organs of the excretory system? Kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra
What is the function of the kidneys? To filter blood, separating toxins from nutrients
What are nephrons? Small filtering structures in the kidneys that remove wastes from blood and produce urine
What is the function of the ureters? Small tubes through which urine flows from the kidneys to the bladder
What is the function of the urinary bladder? To store urine until it is expelled from the body
What is the function of the urethra? The tube through which urine leaves the body
What happens to vitamins, minerals, and nutrients after blood is filtered? They return back to the bloodstream
Where does waste and urine go after being filtered by the kidneys? Through the ureters to the bladder
What does "excretory" mean? The process of removing wastes from the body
