Classififying plants

Chapter 3 lesson 2

TermDefinition
Nonvascular Plants Plants that lack true vascular tissues
Rhizoids A thin root like structure anchor the moss and absorbs water and nutrients from the soil.
Vascular Plants Plants with true vascular tissue
Phloem The vascular tissue through which food moves
Xylem Water and minerals travel in the vascular tissue called xylem
Frond Fern leaves that are. Divided into many smaller parts that look like small leaves
Pollen Tiny structures that contain the cells that will later become sperm cells.
Seed A structure that contains a young plant inside a protective covering
Gymnosperm A seed plant that produces naked seeds.
Angiosperm Flowering plants that produce flowers and seeds that are enclosed in fruits
