Classifying Plants

TermDefinition
Nonvascular Plant Plants that have no true vascular tissue
Rhizoid Anchor the moss and absorb water and nutrients
Vascular Plants Vascular plants are plants with true vascular tissue
Phloem The vascular tissue in which food moves
Xylem The roots that absorb water and minerals from the soil
Frond Fronds are divided into many smaller parts that look like smaller leaves that make ferns
Pollen Pollen are tiny structures that contain the cells that will later become sperm cells
Seed A seed is a structure that contains a young plant inside a protective covering
Gymnosperm A gymnosperm is a seed plant that produces naked seeds
Angiosperm Angiosperms, or flowering plants, share two important characteristics that are the cotyledon and the monocots
