Cold Climates
| Term | Definition |

| Biome | a large geographical area with a particular climate, vegetation, and animal life. Biomes are made up of ecosystems, and can span multiple continents. |
| Taiga | a biome, or major life zone, in the Northern Hemisphere's subarctic region: found in Alaska, Canada, Finland, and Siberia, Russia and covers about 11% of the Earth's land. |
| Climate | The temperature range, amount of light and water, and other climatic conditions |
| Ecosystem | a community of living organisms (plants, animals, microbes) interacting with their physical environment, including non-living factors like air, water, soil, and sunlight, within a specific area |
| Migratory | Typically, an animal, fish, or bird that moves from one region or habitat to another according to the seasons. |
| Inhabitants | a person or animal that lives in or occupied to an external site. a place. |
| Overgrazing | repeated heavy grazing or over eating plants over several years that result in deterioration of the plant community |
| Conifers | -a tree that bears cones and needle-like to an external site. or scale-like leaves that are typically evergreen |
