Vocab ELA Chains

TermDefinition
American Revolution The war between Great Britain and the colonies in America.
Loyalist / Tory People who supported the king.
Patriot / Rebel People who did not support the king.
Colony An area that is under political country from another country
Indentured servant Someone who has to work to earn their freedom….often when coming to another country
Redcoat; lobsterback British soldiers during the Revolution who fought against the Patriots
King George III King of Great Britain during the Revolution
General George Washington The leader of the Patriots during the Revolution
Parliament The government under the King in Great Britain
Tyrant; Tyranny A leader or ruler who is cruel to their followers - not considered a good leader
