Chemical energy A plant makes it from light energy, air, and water molecules
Input what is put in, taken in, or operated on by any process or system
Reactant a substance that takes part in and undergoes change during a reaction
Product a thing or person that is the result of an action or process
byproduct A thing made as a product of doing something
Chemical reaction A process were a substance undergoes a chemical change into a new substance

Molecules a group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction
Eukaryotic organisms whose cells contain a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles
Nucleus the positively charged central core of an atom, consisting of protons and neutrons and containing nearly all its mass
Organelle a subcellular structure that has one or more specific jobs to perform in the cell
Chloroplast a specialized organelle in plant and algae cells that is responsible for photosynthesis, the process of converting sunlight into chemical energy
Pigment a substance that gives color to other materials, such as tissue, paint, inks, plastics, and rubber
Chlorophyll a green pigment, present in all green plants
