| Reactant | a substance that takes part in and undergoes change during a reaction |
| Product | a thing or person that is the result of an action or process |
| byproduct | A thing made as a product of doing something |
| Chemical reaction | A process were a substance undergoes a chemical change into a new substance |
| Atoms | the small things that make up everything |
| Molecules | a group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction |
| Eukaryotic | organisms whose cells contain a nucleus and other membrane-bound organelles |
| Nucleus | the positively charged central core of an atom, consisting of protons and neutrons and containing nearly all its mass |
| Organelle | a subcellular structure that has one or more specific jobs to perform in the cell |
| Chloroplast | a specialized organelle in plant and algae cells that is responsible for photosynthesis, the process of converting sunlight into chemical energy |
| Pigment | a substance that gives color to other materials, such as tissue, paint, inks, plastics, and rubber |
| Chlorophyll | a green pigment, present in all green plants |
