Earth and Space

QuestionAnswer
Rotation - The spinning of Earth on its axis
Revolution - The movement of an object around another object
sun - The star at the center of our solar system
asteroid - any of numerous small celestial bodies composed of rock and metal that move around the sun (mainly between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter)
comet - A loose collection of ice and dust that orbits the sun, typically in a long, narrow orbit.
meteor - A streak of light in the sky produced by the burning of a meteoroid in Earth's atmosphere.
Meteoroid - a relatively small, rocky body that travels through space
meteorite - A meteoroid that has hit earth's surface.
Gravity - A force of attraction between objects that is due to their masses.
What causes day and night on Earth? - Earth's rotation on its axis
24 hours - Earth's rotation takes about
star - Gigantic spheres of burning gas like our sun but these are very far away!
dwarf planet - Pluto
moon - A rocky object that orbits a planet; a natural satellite.
From west to east - What direction does the Earth rotate?
365 days - Earth's revolution takes this long
galaxy - A huge group of single stars, star systems, star clusters, dust, and gas bound together by gravity
Milky Way - The name of our galaxy
