What happens as temperature decreases? Air condenses and hold less moisture, so relative humidity increases
What happens as temperature increases? The air becomes less dense and there is more room to store water vapor, and relative humidity decreases
What does Maritime mean? It means that it formed over water
What does Continental mean? It means that it formed on land
Why is there no mA air mass? The water is too cold so the water turns to ice
What is a land breeze? When the sand heats and cools over the ocean making it colder in the sea
What is a sea breeze? When the sea heats up and cools over the land making it warmer in the sea
What is a barometer and what does it do? It is used to measure air pressure in a certain environment
What is a thermometer and what does it do? It is used to measure temperature using mercury
What is a wind vane and what does it do? It is used for showing the direction of the wind
What is a psychometer and what does it do? It is a wet and dry bulb thermometer on a stick to show the relative humidity of the air
What is a anemometer and what does it do? It is a device that measures wind speed and direction using cups on a stick
What happens in a low pressure area? The moist air rises and cools in a anit-clockwise direction and clouds form
What happens in a high pressure area? The dry, cold air declines and warms up in a clockwise direction
