| air mass | large body of air with similar temperature and humidity |
| atmospheric conditions | temperature, precipitation, humidity and wind conditions that determine weather. |
| weather satellite/ maps | tools that collect and show weather |
| tornado | spinning currents of air that touch the ground |
| severe weather | atmospheric conditions that cause damage |
| equator | imaginary line around the middle of the planet |
| northern hemisphere | the half of earth that lies North of the Equator |
| southern hemisphere | the half of earth that lies South of the Equator |
| Global Weather | long term distribution of heat and power |
| latitude | angular distance from equator |
| direct sunlight | sunlight that reaches earth - no clouds blocking |
| seasons | cycle of weather patterns in a location |
| climate | weather in a location over a long period of time |
| hurricane | low pressure that starts over water |
| ocean | largest body of salt water |
| convection current | hot air rising and cold air sinking |
| sea breeze | Day, wind blows from sea to land |
| land breeze | Night, wind blows from land to sea |
| gulf stream | warm water current - moves north from the Gulf of Mexico |
| current | movement of water/ air in a specific direction |
