ancillary blood glucose test bedside test to determine blood glucose level, performed by dermal puncture
bleeding time (BT) test test that measures the length of time required for bleeding to stop after an incision is made
bilirubin, uric acid, phosphorus, and potassium (BURPP) group of tests that may be elevated by use of povidone-iodine
calcaneus heel bone
capillary tubes small plastic tube used primarily for hematocrit tests
Caraway or Natelson pipets narrow plastic tubes with capacities up to about 470 microliters
iatrogenic anemia anemia caused by excessive blood draws
microcollection containers a small, specialized plastic tube designed to collect tiny volumes of blood from a capillary puncture
microcollection tubes small tube used to collect dermal puncture samples; also called a "bullet"
microhematocrit tubes small plastic tube used primarily for hematocrit tests
osteochondritis painful inflammation of the bone or cartilage
osteomyelitis bone infection
venous thrombosis formation of a blood clot within a vein
