| Term | Definition |

| life cycle | the stage a living thing goes through from birth to adult |
| Northern Hemisphere | the area above the equator, we live in the Northern Hemisphere |
| revolve | the movement of the Earth around the sun over the course of one year |
| tilt | how the Earth's axis is on a slant or at an angle and a reason we have a change in seasons |
| germination | the process of a seed beginning to grow |
| precipitation | water that falls from the sky as rain, snow, sleet, or hall |
| seasons | spring, summer, fall, winter |
| humidity | the amount of moisture or water vapor in the air |
| metamorphosis | the process by which some young animals change form as they become adults, such as a frog |
| condensation | the process by which a gas changes into a liquid, like when water droplets form from water vapor |
| protective | helpful at keeping someone or something safe Ex: a mother hen is protective of their chicks |
| transparent | clear or see through |
| burrow | to make a hole or passage into or under something |
| replenished | replaced or refilled, like filling up a water bottle |
| thrive | to develop well, a plant tends to thrive when it has sunlight, water, and warmth |
| frog | changes from a fish-like larva with gills, called a tadpole, to a four-legged adult with lungs |
| butterfly | hatches from an egg as a larva in the form of a caterpillar, after the caterpillar forms into a pupa where it becomes an adult insect with a head, body, and wings |
| chicken | uses its egg tooth to hatch from an egg that has a shell, yolk, and albumen |
