Urinary & Bowel elimination
| Term | Definition |

| Kidneys | Remove waste and blood to form the urine |
| Ureters | Transports urine from the Kidneys to the bladder |
| Bladder | Reservoir for urine until the urge to urinate develops |
| Urethra | Urine travels from the bladder and exits through the urethral meatus |
| Urinary Elimination | is a basic human function, but can be compromised by a wide variety of illnesses and conditions |
| During acute illness | a patient may require urinary catheterization for close monitoring of urine output |
| What are the types of urinary catheterization? | Long-term indwelling catheters include urethral or suprapubic when the bladder fails to empty |
