The Latin root “port” means to carry and comes from the Latin portus which means harbor or gate
The Latin roots mis/mit means to send
portable means something that is able to be carried such as a water bottle
P\portfolio means an object that can carry papers
rapport means to carry on a good relationship with someone
admit means to send in or allow to enter a place
emit means to send out a noise or to give off some type of signal or odor
missile means something like a rocket or other weapon that is sent
mission means a job that someone is sent to do
omit means to leave out
submit means to send send out for someone else to consider for publication or for a job.
