| Ocean Current | The continuous movement of ocean water in a specific direction. |
| Surface Current | The movement of ocean water that flows at or near the surface of the ocean. |
| Continental Deflection | When ocean currents change direction because they hit a continent. |
| Coriolis Effect | The way Earth’s rotation makes winds and ocean currents curve instead of moving in a straight line. |
| Gyre | A large circular system of ocean currents that move in a loop. |
| Density | A measure of how much mass (stuff) is packed into a certain amount of space. |
| Salinity | The amount of salt dissolved in water. |
| Deep Ocean Current | The movement of ocean water that flows deep below the surface. |
| Convection | Is the way heat moves through liquids and gases. It happens when warm parts of a liquid or gas rise, and cooler parts sink, creating a cycle. |
| Weather | a description of the short term conditions of the atmosphere at a particular time and place. |
| Temperature | a measure of how hot or cold something is. |
| Humidity | a measure of the amount of water vapor in the air. |
| Air Pressure | the force of air pushing on an object. |

| Latitude | the distance north or south of the equator. |
| Elevation | the distance of a place above sea level. |
| Global Winds | Winds that blow steadily in a specific direction. |
| Distance from Water | Water temperatures rise and fall much slower than land and air. This causes locations near coasts to have milder climates. |
| Landforms | The shape of the land; includes mountains, valleys, oceans, etc. |
