Osmosis The diffusion of water across a cell membrane.
Equilibrium Condition in which molecules of a substance are evenly distributed throughout the space.
Passive Transport Movement of materials across a cell membrane with the use of energy.
Active Transport Movement of materials across a cell membrane without the use of energy.
Endocytosis A process by which cells carry a large body, such as a large protein molecule across a cell membrane into the cytoplasm.
Exocytosis A process by which a cell moves out large molecules though the cell membrane.
Mentabloism All chemical activities of an organism that allow you to live, grow, and reproduce.
Producer An organism, such as green plants, which makes its own food through photosynthesis.
Consumers Organisms that can not make their own food.
Fermentation A form of breathing that converts energy from glucose when the oxygen supply is not enough. Yeasts and some bacteria use fermentation to release energy and carbon dioxide.
Aerobic Respiration Creating energy in the presence of oxygen.
Anaerobic Respiration Creating energy without the presence of oxygen.
Diffusion The movement of molecules from areas of high concentration to areas of lower concentration.
