Greek and Latin Roots voc and dict for 6th Graders

| Latin root "dict" means | to say or to speak |

| The word addictive means | Something that a person has "said" or will "say" yes to because he or she can't say no |
| An avocation is | is a person's hobby or what he or she likes to do when not working |
| A vocation is | is a person's job or what they feel inclined to do as a job |
| To predict is | to "say" what will happen before it happens. The prefix "pre" means before. |
| A prefix is called this because | it is the meaningful part that comes before a root |
| Adding the suffix "ist" to a word means | the person who does that thing such as a scientist is a person who does science. |
