definitions of some abnormal obstetric conditions

Ectopic pregnancy Pregnancy in which implantation occurs outside the uterus.
Placenta previa Implantation of the placenta in the lower uterine segment.
Abruptio placenta Partial, marginal, or complete = premature separation of the placenta in the 3rd trimester.
Hydatidiform mole It is an abnormal condition of the placenta where there are partly degenrative and partly proliferative changes in the young chorionic villi.
Polyhydramnias it is a state where liquor amnii exceeds 2000 ml.
Oligohydramnios where the liquor amnii is deficient in amount to the extent of less than 200ml at term.
Asphyxia neonatorum it is defined as failure to initiate and maintain spontaneous respiration following birth.
