Road Scholar terms: Highway map

TermDefinition
Map Legend A description, explanation, or table of symbols printed on a map or chart to make reading it easier
Table A universal table system for situations requiring flexible configurations and optimal use of space
Index They give the location of the feature on the map via grid reference
Features Road names, highway numbers, and distance between cities
symbols An abstract or pictorial reference to something else
grid system Usually square and is represented by drawn lines on a map creating those squares
Distance between features The shortest separation between them
City/Regional inserts Shows the political or administrative boundaries of a particular land mass
Geographic coordinates in decimal degrees A way to express latitude and longitude
