Magma Molten Rock under the earth's surface
Lava Hot molten, or semifluid rock from a volcano
Intrusive Igneous rock that was formed slowly under the earth's surface
Extrusive Igneous rock that was formed quickly above the earth's surface
Phaneritic Rock grains that are visible to the naked eye
Aphanitic Rock grains that are too small to see
Pyro clasts Magma pieces that were rapidly cooled during an explosive eruption
Silica Oxygen combines with silicon
Viscosity Resistance to flow and gas's ability to escape
Ring of Fire Region around the Pacific Ocean that is made up of composite volcanos - tectonic plate border
Lithification when unconsolidated sediments turn into solid rock
Foliation Pressure in metamorphic rocks that cause intergrown mineral crystals
Igneous Intrusion When magma cools and solidifies below the earth's surface
Caldera A crater left behind when a volcano is blown apart after exploding
Mud Cracks Sedimentary structures that are formed as muddy sediments dries and contracts
