| Intrusive | Igneous rock that was formed slowly under the earth's surface |
| Extrusive | Igneous rock that was formed quickly above the earth's surface |
| Phaneritic | Rock grains that are visible to the naked eye |
| Aphanitic | Rock grains that are too small to see |
| Pyro clasts | Magma pieces that were rapidly cooled during an explosive eruption |
| Silica | Oxygen combines with silicon |
| Viscosity | Resistance to flow and gas's ability to escape |
| Ring of Fire | Region around the Pacific Ocean that is made up of composite volcanos - tectonic plate border |
| Lithification | when unconsolidated sediments turn into solid rock |
| Foliation | Pressure in metamorphic rocks that cause intergrown mineral crystals |
| Igneous Intrusion | When magma cools and solidifies below the earth's surface |
| Caldera | A crater left behind when a volcano is blown apart after exploding |
| Mud Cracks | Sedimentary structures that are formed as muddy sediments dries and contracts |
