What does PH measure? What does PH Tell you? PH measures the concentration of Hydrogen and Hydroxide ions so you can tell how acidic, or alkaline a substance is
What are the 2 main components of a cell? Nucleus, and cytoplasm
What does the cytoplasm consist of? and what are they? Cytoplasm consists of cytosol which is a gel like fluid and organelles which are structures made of a variety of molecules to carry out specific funtions
What is not part of the cytoplasm? the nucleus is not part of the cytoplasm
Germ layers Give rise to various organs in the body there are 3 layers Ectoderm, Mesoderm, Endoderm
histogenesis process the cells go through in each germ layer to become more differentiated in order to form into specific tissues
Epithelial Tissue covers and protects the bodies surface, lines the body cavities, as well as moves substances in and out of the body or particular organs. May even form glands in the body. Cells are usually close together and contain very little ECM
Connective Tissue supports the body and its parts, connects and holds them together, transports substances through the body, and protects the body from foreign substances. Connective tissue is far apart and separated by a lot of matrix
Agonist can be applied to the prime mover/ or any other mover muscle that directly contributes to the same action as the prime mover
Antagonist the muscle that opposes the agonist. They are relaxed while the prime mover is contracting to produce movement Important for providing precision and control Cooperates rather than opposing normal movement
Synergist Muscles that contract at the same time as the prime mover. To facilitate or compliment the action and produce a more effective movement
Fixator muscle functions as a joint stabilizer, serves to maintain posture and balance during contractions of prime movers acting on the joints in the arms and legs, are also a type of synergist
4 Abdominal Muscles that compress the abdomen Internal obliques, External obliques, Transverse abdominus, and Rectus Abdominus
