Anatomical Direction
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Anatomic position | Standing erect, facing observe, feet flat on floor and slightly separated, arms at sides, pals forward. |
| Superior(cranial) | Toward the head; upward |
| Inferior ( caudal) | Below another part |
| Anterior ( ventral) | In anatomy, in front of the coronal or ventral plane. |
| Posterior ( dorsal) | Back or back of |
| Proximal | Close to the point of attachment |
| Distal | Farthest away from a central point, such as point of attachment of muscles |
| Deep | Away from the surface or further into the body. |
| Superficial | Closer to the surface of the body |
| Medial | Close to the mid line of the body or structure |
| Lateral | Away from the mid line |
| Mid Line | A line in the sagittal plane, splitting the right and left halves evenly. |
