Seasons
Why do we have seasons?
| Term | Definition |

| Rotation | The spinning around and axis |
| Orbit | The line which an object rotates. |
| Revolution | The orbit of an object around another. |
| Solstices | When earth’s axis is tilted directly away to toward the sun. |
| Equinox | When earth’s axis is tilted neither away or toward the sun. |
| Phase | The lit part of the moon or planet that can be seen from Earth. |
| Waxing phase | This period of getting bigger is called waxing. As the moon waxes from a new moon to the first quarter (when half of the moon is visible), it has a crescent shape. |
| Waning Phase | After the full moon, the percentage of the illuminated surface that we can see gets smaller and smaller, until it disappears and we have a new moon again. |
| Umbra | The central darker part of the shadow. |
| Penumbra | The less dark part of the shadow |
