What is Hubble's Law? When an object is moving towards you it has a higher frequency and when it is moving away from you it has a lower frequency.
What is the Doppler Effect? The difference between the frequency at which sound or light waves leave a source and that at which they reach an observer.
What is Red Shift? When an object is moving away from you the more spaced out the waves are, making the frequency lower.
What is the life cycle of a low mass star? Nebula, average star, red giant, planetary nebula, white dwarf, black dwarf.
What is the life cycle of a high mass star? Nebula, massive star, supergiant, supernova, neutron star/black hole.
What is Blue Shift? When an object is moving towards you the closer the waves are, making the frequency higher.
What force causes a nebula to condense into a star? Gravity
How many miles is 1 light year? 5,878,625,373,184
What type of reaction at the core of a star that fuels the star? Fusion (combining) of hydrogen into helium
What is on the X axis of an HR Diagram? Temperature
What is on the Y axis of an HR Diagram? Luminocity
What is a Habitable Zone? The distance from a star where a rocky planet could have water on the surface.
How does a star's size affect its Habitable zone? The bigger the star the farther away the habitable zone is.
Which type of stars are likely to allow the evolution of complex life? If a planet is in the middle of the habitable zone and it has water on the surface, it can support life.
