Biology Study of life
Kingdom Monera Microscopic organisms, simplest form of life, made of prokaryotic cells
Kindgom Protista Made of eukaryotic cells, larger than in Kingdom Monera
Kindgom Fungi Group where most of the organisms feed on dead organisms
Pathogen An organism that causes disease
Kingdom Plantae Group that contains organisms that make their own food (plants).
Dehydrated food When almost all water has been removed and the item can be stored for a long time
Photosynthesis The process where plants make their own food
Protozoa Animal-like Protista
Algae Plant-like Protista
Decomposer Organisms that bread down the dead remains of other organisms
Mycelium The actual fungus
Shelf fungi Fungi that grows on dead or dying trees
Vegetative Reproduction The process by which one part of a plant can form new roots and develop into a complete plant
Stems Help transport the nutrients and water to the leaves of a plant
Roots Absorbs water and nutrients from the soil
Cell Wall Surrounds the outside membrane of a plant cell
Centrol Vacuole Organelle in a plant that fills with water
Turgor Pressure Causes a plant to look wilted when low
