Literary Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Exposition | It introduces characters, problem/conflict and the setting of the story/narrative. |
| Rising Action | Events that lead up to the climax…the action begins, suspense is created, and conflicts occur. |
| Climax | The turning point of the story; the main conflict is addressed. |
| Falling Action | The main character starts to resolves the conflict and tension is eased…moves the plot to its resolution. |
| Resolution/Conclusion | The end of the story, typically action has relaxed, and most conflicts are resolved. |

| Literary Elements | Components or parts of a literary work: setting, plot, characters, theme etc. |
| Characters | A person, animal, or as figure in a story |
| Protagonist | The main/central character usually involved in a conflict with the antagonist. |

| Conflict | A problem, fight, or struggle between characters, society, nature, or internally within. |
