TermDefinition
INFERENCE a idea or conclusion drawn from evidence and reasoning.
HYPOTHESIS an assumption or idea that proposed for the sake of the argument so you can test it to be true or not.
CONTROL GROUP the group or experiment that's not being tested
EXPERIMENTAL GROUP the group in the experiment that gets tested
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE variable that stands alone and isn't changed by the other variables you are trying to measure
DEPENDENT VARIABLE what you measure in the experiment and what is affected during the experiment
CONSTANT the factors the doesn't change in the experiment
QUANTITATIVE DATA data that can measured in numerical values
QUALITIVE DATA data representing information and concepts that are not represented by numbers
CONCLUSION a statement based on experimental measurements and observations
SCIENTIFIC THEORY a well-substantiated explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can incorporate laws, hypotheses and facts
SCIENTIFIC LAW the description of a naturally occurring phenomena in the world
